Emerging in 1998 on the Maschinenwelt compilation A Reflexion Of Synthpop, “Skin” marked the very first official release of Neuroticfish. Recorded in 1997 in his living room with an eight-track recorder, three synthesizers, one sampler, and a SM-58 microphone, the track gained Sascha Mario Klein’s project recognition in the dark electronic scene of the late 1990s. Its distinctive fusion of industrial, synth-pop, and techno influences, paired with naive melodies and introspective lyrics, established a sound that would echo far beyond its humble beginnings.

This release traces the journey of the song over nearly 30 years, including its 2002 evolution as “Skin Binary,” and its new incarnations as “Skin26” and “Skin (Deep).”
